Film Evaluation - What has been leant through the process of making the films?

A lot of film tricks and theory has been learnt through the process of making this film. Before i was unaware of the importance of lighting a set correctly, and it required a lot of experimentation on set and with different types of lighting to get the scene lit correctly. There were many occasions where lighting had to be tested with a number of different levels, to create the dead of night effect we wanted. The final effect of the lighting changes in one of the last shots covers half of the main actress' face in darkness, and creates a large shadow behind the door.

The other lighting trick learnt was the use of smaller more compact lights to illuminate a certain area of the set. One light was transported round the house as we shot the second attempt at the film, and the effects of it in both scenes can be seen below.

Both these shots contained the same lighting, it is clearly visible in the first shot as it is a bedroom sidelight, however it would look very out of place in a kitchen and was therefore hidden from view from the camera.
